Amazingly, there are various national NGO’s and startups who are doing that work since last few years, they have a service which picks up the waste food and it is delivered to needy people. They even do the quality checking for safety reasons.

These results made me wonder why there is such an unfamiliarity with these startups. running out of curiosity, I decided to take a little survey among my neighbors, relatives, and friends, the sample size was small but contained variety, there were people from various backgrounds and variety in family income as well. The results of the survey say that 1 out of every 6 people was aware of these kinds of startups. Many of them weren’t aware as expected, but those people really loved the idea of sharing the food.
In Indian culture, food sharing (“Annadan” ) is a very respectful act, more you share the food, more you get the blessings and goodness in life. This goodness and blessings will take you towards the mind peace and “Mukti”. It implies that the main motto of such huge events, ceremonies is to share the food among human beings without any discrimination. It is a very positive act. Even for a selfish person (Who doesn’t believe in sharing), blessings are all that what matters the most. The issue of deaths due to malnutrition and hunger is getting worst day by day. Therefore the idea of sharing an unaccounted food from ceremonies and functions plays a vital role to feed street families and homeless humans. Being a mechanical engineer I can easily relate this to an unaccounted heat from an Internal Combustion Engine. More you utilize the unaccounted heat, more you increase the efficiency of an engine. On the similar lines more you utilize the unaccounted food, more you contribute to the society to make it a better place(Increase Efficiency :-P)
We know, Children of today are the citizens of nation tomorrow. Hunger is the main cause due to which people get influenced towards bad acts like robbery, thievery, Greediness which creates terror in the society. Many of poor children get influenced by such horrible routes to feed their stomach in their learning phase. For example when the cotton mills in Mumbai were closed many workers became unemployed. They started struggling for a single meal in a day. It created a bad impact on their children, and few of them got influenced by the underworld and terror in the society was drastically increased. on the other side, most of the children could not even complete their education and was employed in a small scale industry which slowed down the overall rate of growth of the economy. These studies show that one of the root cause of all terror problems lies in hunger itself, if a small step of sharing an unaccounted food can help to solve these problems then why not give it a shot!
A non-profit startup “Feeding India” started by Ankit Kawatra doing an amazing work in India. Founded in 2015 and with a mission to end the hunger in the country! The mission itself says everything about it. In a period of 2 years surprisingly it has successfully served 8.5 million meals. This startup collects unaccounted food from various ceremonies, functions, events etc. and provide that food to the needy once. Everything they do is for a mission “Hunger-free India”. They say it is possible to jettison malnutrition and hunger in India if we look at it as a major problem. Now, if we look at the survey it is pretty surprising that very few people know about this startup despite such a Nobel work. Even when people come know about this through my survey they actually loved the idea and asked how can we contribute? And yes I have answered it.
